EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint Results

On May 1, 2009, a sobriety checkpoint was conducted in Andrew County. A total of 12 troopers were assigned to the four-hour operation.
Troopers arrested one driver for driving while intoxicated, and one for minor in possession of alcohol; made one misdemeanor criminal arrest and one felony arrest; and issued four summonses for no driver’s license. Troopers also issued 93 warnings to motorists for minor violations. A total of 255 vehicles came into the checkpoint.
Captain Duane L. Robinson stated, “Not only are the checkpoints an effective means to arrest intoxicated drivers, but also other arrests are made based on violations found by officers.”
