EMPHASIS: Results Of October Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Projects

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) commercial vehicle enforcement operations during October. The purpose of these efforts was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.

Three separate one-day enforcement projects were conducted during the month in Greene, Jasper, and Lawrence counties. During this month’s operation, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers stopped 56 drivers. They inspected 38 commercial vehicles, issued 85 warnings and 15 summonses, as well as placed one vehicle and three drivers out-of-service.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
