EMPHASIS: Minnesota Resident Arrested On Felony Charges

At approximately 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified that a male subject had attempted to cash a stolen check at a bank in Brookfield, Missouri. A description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle was provided. A routine computer check of the license plate observed on the vehicle revealed the car had been stolen in the state Minnesota. At approximately 10:00 p.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper observed the suspect vehicle, a 2010 Toyota, at a gas station in Moberly, Missouri. The driver of the vehicle, Adam L. Norstedt, 22, of Spicer, Minnesota, was subsequently arrested for felony tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and stealing motor vehicle fuel. A short time after the arrest, consent was provided to search a Moberly motel room in which Norstedt was staying, which revealed stolen property from Sullivan County, Missouri. Location of the stolen property prompted an additional charge of felony receiving stolen property.
Norstedt was incarcerated in the Randolph County Jail where he is being held on a $10,000 bond. The Patrol was assisted by the Moberly Police Department, and the investigation is ongoing.
The charges for which Norstert was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
