EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Driving While Intoxicated Saturation Results In Jefferson County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the results of a driving while intoxicated saturation conducted August 30, 2008, in Jefferson County. During the eight-hour enforcement project, five officers focused their attention on detecting intoxicated drivers traveling on the roadway.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 32 arrests were made and 62 warnings were issued. Of those arrests, six were cited for speeding, four for seat belt violations and 12 subjects were charged with non-moving violations. In addition, 10 were arrested on outstanding warrants. During the eight-hour operation 54 vehicles were stopped.
Captain Johnson stated, “Removing impaired drivers from our roadways is vital to reducing traffic crashes. Through the combined efforts of the law enforcement agencies and the motoring public, we can make an impact on reducing the number of traffic crashes and fatalities in the state. Drunk drivers cause too many traffic crashes and kill too many innocent people each year. Please remember to drive safely, wear your seat belt, and always designate a sober driver.”
