EMPHASIS: Troop F Prepares For The Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, MO, announces upcoming plans for Troop F officers to participate in Operation C.A.R.E. and special enforcement operations for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the holiday. This means every available officer will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and helping motorists in need of assistance.

Additionally, Troop F officers will be conducting special enforcement operations to maximize visibility on Interstate 70 in the Troop F area on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, and Sunday, November 29, 2015. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile intervals, not only aggressively enforcing traffic laws, but also to be available in the event motorists experience any type of emergency with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday.

“Many motorists will be traveling over the holiday, and we want everyone traveling on Missouri roadways to be safe,” stated Captain Turner. “Make sure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained and never drink and drive.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
