EMPHASIS: Carrollton Resident Arrested On Stealing Charge


Glenda E. Scott, 56, of Carrollton, Missouri, was arrested by troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department on February 10, 2010, at approximately 11:30 a.m. following a nine month investigation into insurance fraud. Scott was arrested for two counts of felony stealing and transported to the Carroll County Jail, in Carrollton, pending formal charges. Investigation into the theft was initiated on May 5, 2009, by the Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control at the request of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department. The investigation revealed Scott was the owner of an insurance sub-agency that brokered to several insurance companies. It was determined that customers were paying premiums on policies that were never filed with the insurance companies. Additional charges may be filed at a later time.

The charges for which Scott was arrested are mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
