Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program's SAFETE, an enforcement program focusing on violations of commercial motor vehicles. SAFETE was conducted on September 23, in St. Louis County. During the project, four troopers and one portable scale truck focused their enforcement activities on hazardous operations of commercial motor vehicles to ensure that commercial vehicles and drivers are operating safely on the nation's highways.

As a result of the enforcement program, the following summonses were issued:
Driver's License Violations -- 2 summonses
Commercial Vehicle Violations -- 14 summonses
Seat Belt Violations -- 10 summonses

Vehicles Placed Out-of-Service -- 6
Commercial Vehicles Inspected -- 13

Captain Johnson stated, “Enforcement of commercial motor vehicle violations is critical to the safety of the motoring public. Please assist us in our efforts by reporting careless drivers and other suspicious activities on Missouri’s roadways.”

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
