EMPHASIS: Certified Boating Safety Class Offered In Central Missouri

Major Thomas E. Roam, director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division, announces that a boating safety certification course has been scheduled in Osage County at Fatima High School, 143 E. Main St, Westphalia, MO. The date of the course is November 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Troopers from the Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division will instruct students on boating safety and the rules and regulations regarding boating in Missouri. There will be no charge for these courses; however, students are required to pre-register online, as seating will be limited and notification may be sent in the event a course is canceled. To get more information, to register for a boating safety course, or to obtain a complete listing of course times and locations, you may visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol website www.mshp.dps.mo.gov. Once there select Divisions, Water Patrol Division, Safety Education Classroom Course.

Missouri law requires any person born after January 1, 1984, to carry a boating safety certification card along with a picture ID anytime they operate a vessel, which includes personal watercraft, on Missouri lakes. Any student who successfully passes this course will be eligible to order the boating safety certification card for $15.
