EMPHASIS: Possible Kidnapping

On December 18, 2009, at 1:13 p.m. Troop H was notified of a possible kidnapping from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. Witnesses observed a bearded man put a young boy into the trunk of a 1996 Honda Accord and leave the Liberty, MO. area.
Troopers working Interstate 35, fifteen miles north of Cameron, MO. stopped a vehicle matching the description and interviewed the two adults and two children. It was determined that the child in question preferred to enter the vehicle through the trunk and then climb into the back seat.
The four occupants were released after it was determined that no crime was committed.
