EMPHASIS: Announcement Of Sobriety Checkpoint And Saturation
Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H, St Joseph, announces that sometime during the month of March Troop H officers will conduct a sobriety checkpoint and a driving while intoxicated saturation. The sobriety checkpoint will be held in Buchanan County in conjunction with the St. Joseph Police Department, and the saturation will be conducted in Clinton County.
The checkpoint is a static operation on a specific highway that is designed to check every driver to ensure they are not impaired. The driving while intoxicated saturation is a mobile operation in which troopers saturate a specific highway in an effort to arrest intoxicated drivers.
Captain Robinson stated, “Impaired drivers are dangerous and these programs are an effective means to identify and arrest them.”
Captain Robinson urges you to telephone the Patrol if you observe any vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. Drivers can use the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s toll-free numbers for reporting emergencies. These numbers are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular * 55.
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
