EMPHASIS: Troop B To Conduct Community Alliance Program

Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be conducting a Community Alliance Program. The program will begin on Monday, September 8, 2008, and will conclude with an awards ceremony on Monday, November 10, 2008. The mission of the Community Alliance Program is to provide personal interaction between community citizens and the Patrol. This program is designed for those possessing an interest in learning about the Patrol’s purpose and role within the law enforcement community. The Patrol is seeking 15 responsible citizens, community leaders, students, and professional/business associates who are willing to commit to a program that provides a unique opportunity unlike any other programs offered by the Patrol.
With the exception of the awards ceremony, classes will meet on each of the 10 consecutive Monday evenings, from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., at the Troop B Headquarters, Macon, MO. Successful completion of the program will require attendance at each Monday evening session. (Two absences will be allowed with prior approval.) The curriculum will familiarize participants with Patrol policies and procedures utilizing teaching techniques similar to those experienced by troopers attending the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in Jefferson City. Many evenings will include activities and role-playing exercises that provide participants hands-on experience.
The Patrol is accepting applications for the Community Alliance Program through July 18, 2008, and there is no cost to participate in the program. Selection of 15 participants will be based upon an evaluation of an application form and a criminal record check. Application forms will be available at the Troop B Headquarters, Macon, MO, or by calling Sergeant Brent Bernhardt at (660) 385-2132.
