EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint In St. Francois County


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Friday evening, March18, 2011, in St. Francois County. During the five-hour operation, a total of 344 vehicles were checked with a total of 21 arrests being made and 121 warnings being issued. Of those, 10 summonses were written for other moving and non-moving violations, including seat belt and child restraint violations, and one summons was written for a speed violation. One summons was written for a driver license violation and five for insurance violations. In addition, two subjects were arrested for DWI, including two additional felony arrests on one subject for resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Captain Johnson stated, "This was another successful checkpoint, and we would like to thank every person involved, especially members of the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department.”
