EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Butler County on March14, 2014. A total of 188 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

1 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrest
7 -- Seat Belt Summonses
7 -- Child Restraint Summonses
1 -- Speed Summons
8 -- Non-Moving Summonses
8 -- Driver’s License Summonses
5 -- Uninsured Motorist Summonses
4 -- Misdemeanor Criminal Arrests
2 -- Felony Drug Arrests
63 -- Warnings

The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected intoxicated driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on your cell phone. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at this checkpoint by the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
