EMPHASIS: Results Of A Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation In Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, MO, announces the results of a recent MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement operation. The purpose of this effort was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.

This enforcement program was conducted September 17-19, 2013, and primarily focused on the high-crash counties in Troop D including: Greene, Lawrence, Newton, and Jasper counties. During this operation, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers inspected 346 commercial vehicles. They discovered 1,120 violations, placed 88 vehicles and 8 drivers out-of-service, and issued 191 citations.

"I appreciate the efforts of our officers. Citizens traveling through the state of Missouri benefited from this enforcement operation by the removal of unsafe drivers and vehicles from our highways," stated Captain Villanueva.
