EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Marion County



Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Marion County.
On August 11, 2012, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Marion County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 24, in West Quincy. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11 p.m. on August 11, 2012, and concluded at 3 a.m. on August 12, 2012, officers checked 398 vehicles, made 33 arrests, and issued 14 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

10 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
1 -- Arrest for a felony drug violation
7 -- Arrests for a misdemeanor drug violations
6 -- Arrests for misdemeanor warrants
2 -- Citations were issued for non-moving violations
7 -- Citations were issued for driver’s license violations

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
