EMPHASIS: Troop A Announces "Click It Or Ticket" Enforcement Campaign Totals

Lieutenant Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the totals for the “Click It Or Ticket” enforcement campaign that was conducted in Platte, Clay, Jackson, Lafayette, and Johnson counties from May 19, 2008 through June 1, 2008.
Troop A officers issued 168 seat belt summonses and seven citations for failure to properly secure a child in an approved child restraint seat.
A zero tolerance policy for seat belt use was in effect throughout this operation to raise seat belt awareness and compliance. Electronic message boards, provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation, were activated reminding motorists of the campaign. The enforcement operation is part of a national campaign, and was conducted statewide in Missouri.
“Any time you are involved in a traffic crash, you have little, if any, control of the end result,” stated Lieutenant Powell. “Taking three seconds to properly fasten and adjust your seat belt is one thing you can control, and one way to increase your chance of surviving a traffic crash.”
