EMPHASIS: Results Of Selected Traffic Enforcement Operation Conducted In Shelby County

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a Selected Traffic Enforcement Operation conducted in Shelby County by Troop B officers.
From 9:00 p.m. on June 19, 2010, to 3:00 a.m. on June 20, 2010, three Troop B officers focused their attention to highways located in Shelby County, with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other hazardous moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation a total of 13 arrests were made and 33 warnings were issued. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the operation:

2 -- arrests for driving while intoxicated
7 -- summonses for speed
1 -- summons for a seat belt violation
1 --summons for a child restraint violation
2 -- arrests for misdemeanor drug violations

“Driving while intoxicated continues to be a major contributing factor of traffic crashes in Missouri,” stated Captain Wilt. “Troop B officers will be conducting many similar enforcement operations during the upcoming year. If you plan on drinking intoxicating beverages always use a sober, designated driver.”
