EMPHASIS: Troop F To Offer Community Relations Program

The Missouri State Highway Patrol at Troop F will be conducting a Community Alliance Program beginning Thursday, October 6, 2011, and concluding on Thursday, November 10, 2011. The mission of the Community Alliance Program is to provide personal interaction between citizens and the Patrol. The program is designed for those possessing a strong interest in learning about the Patrol’s purpose and role within the law enforcement community. The Highway Patrol is seeking 20 responsible citizens, community leaders, professional and business associates who are willing to participate in a program that provides a unique opportunity unlike any formerly offered by the Patrol.

The classes will meet on six Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., at Troop F Headquarters located at 2920 North Shamrock Road, Jefferson City, Missouri. Successful completion of the program will require attendance at each Thursday evening session. One absence will be allowed with prior approval from the program coordinator. The curriculum will familiarize participants with several Patrol policies and procedures, utilizing teaching techniques similar to those experienced by troopers attending the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in Jefferson City. Many evenings will include activities and role playing exercises that provide participants practical experience. Upon completion of the final session, a distinctive award will be presented to each successful participant.

Program Curriculum:

October 6 - History of the Patrol, “So you want to be a Trooper.” “Tools of the Trade.”
October 13 - Traffic Enforcement
October 20 - Crime Control
October 27 - Tactical Activities
November 3 - Firearms
November 10 - D.W.I.

The Patrol is accepting applications for the Community Alliance Program through September 20, 2011. This program is planned as a semi-annual event, and there is no cost to the participants. Selection of 20 applicants will be based upon an evaluation of an application form and a criminal record check. Application forms are available by calling Sergeant Paul Reinsch or Ms. Dee Kempker at 573-751-1000.
