EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Adair County By Troop B Officers During The Month Of July 2013


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted by Troop B officers during the month of July 2013.

On July 19, 2013, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Adair County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Missouri Highway 6 at Potter Trail, in Adair County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on July 19, 2013, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on July 20, 2013, officers checked 190 vehicles, made 16 arrests, and issued 13 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

2-- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
1-- Citation issued for a seat belt violation
6 --Citations for driver’s license violations
1 --Citation for an insurance violation
1-- Citation for a non-moving violation
2-- Arrests for person under 21 years of age possessing intoxicating liquor
1-- Misdemeanor warrant arrest
1-- Arrest for a criminal misdemeanor offense
1-- Arrest for a felony drug violation

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
