EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Participate In Alcohol Enforcement Efforts

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that Troop B officers will be participating in alcohol enforcement efforts during the months of April and May 2012.
During the month of April 2012, troopers will conduct DWI saturations in Monroe, Ralls, and Lewis counties. During the month of May 2012, a DWI saturation will be conducted in Adair and Sullivan counties. The goal of these enforcement operations is to detect impaired drivers and other hazardous moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes.
From May 3, 2012 through May 13, 2012, Troop B officers will be joining other Missouri law enforcement agencies during the "Youth Alcohol Mobilization". During this period, officers will be stepping up enforcement efforts with a goal of removing impaired drivers from Missouri highways. With prom and graduation season here, Missouri law enforcement want to make sure Missouri youth are celebrating safe and sober.
It is illegal for someone under 21 to possess or consume alcohol in Missouri, yet youth make up a significant proportion of drunk drivers causing traffic crashes on Missouri roadways. Missouri has a zero tolerance law. If you are under 21, your license will be suspended if you're caught driving with even a trace of alcohol in your system.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driver license, being sentenced to use ignition interlock systems, higher insurance rates, attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of job or job prospects. When family, friends, and co-workers find out, violators can also face tremendous personal embarrassment and humiliation.
"Driving drunk is simply not worth the consequences," stated Captain Wilt. "Zero tolerance means zero chances: You Drink and Drive, You Lose."
