EMPHASIS: Results Of I-80/I-35 Challenge Overtime Operation--Troop H

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of an enforcement operation in conjunction with the I-80/I-35 Border-to-Border traffic safety initiative conducted on Interstate 35 in Troop H.

The operation was held from August 28-30, 2015, on Interstate 35 within Troop H. During the enforcement operation seven officers patrolled Interstate 35 strictly enforcing all traffic laws with a special emphasis on those violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the enforcement operation, there were 61 traffic citations issued and 81 warnings given. There were no traffic fatalities during the enforcement operation within Troop H.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Join us in supporting the Drive To Zero Highway Deaths. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
