EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In Washington County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the potential hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Washington County. This eight-hour project was conducted by five officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. During the operation, a total of eleven drivers were arrested and thirty-nine warnings were issued. Two subjects were arrested for driving while intoxicated, three for following too close, two for no seatbelt, one for speeding, one for failing to yield, one non-moving summons was issued, and one subject was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant.

Captain Johnson stated, “Driving while intoxicated continues to be responsible for approximately 30 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
