EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Benton County

Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint in Benton County. Due to weather conditions, members of the Highway Patrol conducted a driving while intoxicated saturation.
On June 19, 2009, a total of ten officers concentrated their efforts on all major highways in Benton County. As a result of the five-hour operation, one person was arrested for driving while intoxicated, one person was arrested on a misdemeanor criminal arrest, and two people were arrested for misdemeanor drug violations. In addition, seven citations and 56 warnings were issued.
Captain Powell stated, “Removing intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways is a high priority for the Highway Patrol. If you are going to drink, please do not drive.”
