EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces DWI Spotcheck And Saturation Patrols For Month Of June
Captain Randy Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that during the month of June, troopers assigned to Troop I will be involved in three special enforcement operations that specifically target alcohol or drug impaired drivers.
During the month of June troopers will be participate in DWI saturation patrols in Crawford and Phelps Counties and a sobriety checkpoint in Pulaski County. Troopers involved in the saturation patrols will concentrate their efforts on those highways where previous accidents and arrests indicate a larger percentage of impaired drivers. The location of the checkpoint will also be determined after reviewing arrest and accident statistics involving impaired drivers. We encourage motorists passing through a checkpoint to be patient and to have their driver’s license and proof of insurance available for inspection.
“Too many people are seriously injured or killed on Missouri’s streets and highways every year by drunk drivers,” said Captain Becker. “I hope that selective enforcement projects such as these will serve as important tools in fighting this serious problem.”
