EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Results Of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Program


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, is pleased to announce the results of SAFETE, an enforcement program focusing on violations of commercial motor vehicles. SAFETE was conducted on Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Cape Girardeau County. During the eight-hour project, five troopers focused their enforcement activities on hazardous operations of commercial motor vehicles. Totals from this operation include:

4 -- Speed summonses
23 -- Seat belt summonses
3 -- Commercial motor vehicle arrests
2 -- Non-moving violations
2 -- No driver’s license/driving while revoked or suspended
2 -- Out-of-service driver
2 -- Out-of-service vehicle
17 -- Commercial motor vehicle inspections
1 -- Misdemeanor warrant arrest
39 -- Total arrests
36 -- Warnings

Captain Ridens said, “Enforcement of commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations is critical to the safety of the motoring public. Please assist us in our efforts by reporting careless drivers and other suspicious activities on Missouri’s roadways.”
