EMPHASIS: Results Of Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoint


On September 8, 2007, a driving while intoxicated checkpoint was conducted in Nodaway County. A total of 10 troopers were assigned to the three-hour operation. A total of seven arrests and nine warnings were issued as a result of the checkpoint. This total includes three arrests for driving while intoxicated, one-misdemeanor drug arrest, two driver’s license violations, and one non-moving violation. There were also a total of 12 field sobriety tests given during the operation. Captain Duane L. Robinson stated, “With every impaired driver we remove, lives are being saved. The checkpoint continues to be an effective measure to remove these drivers.”
