EMPHASIS: Troop H Releases Results Of 20-Mile Trooper Project--July Fourth Weekend

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of the 20-Mile Trooper project over the July Fourth weekend. The project encompassed two days, July 3, 2014, and July 6, 2014, designated as the peak travel days for the holiday period. Interstate 35 was the roadway designated for this project and troopers were assigned a 20-mile stretch of the interstate from the Clinton County line to the Iowa state line. As a result of the project officers issued 158 citations and 196 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during this project:

106--speed citations
16--seat belt citations
1--hazardous moving violation citation
14--non-moving violation citations
6--no driver’s license citations
2--driving while suspended citations
9--no insurance citations
1--child restraint citation
1--misdemeanor warrant arrest
2--driving while intoxicated arrests

“Troop H trooper’s vigorous enforcement efforts this July Fourth weekend helped keep everyone traveling through Troop H safe,” stated Captain McDonald.

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
