EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint -- Wayne County

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Wayne County. The checkpoint was held from 11 p.m. on July 4, 2015, to 3 a.m. on July 5, 2015. A total of 170 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

3 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrests
4 -- No Driver License Summonses
1 -- Seat Belt Summons
30 -- Warnings
2 -- Felony Arrests

The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Join us in supporting the Drive To Zero Highway Deaths. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
