EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of DWI Saturation

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Dent County that began at 7 p.m., May 2, 2014, and ended at 3 a.m., May 3, 2014. During the operation, troopers issued 40 warnings and made arrests or issued citations for the following offenses:

DWI: 1
Speed: 2
Failure To Wear A Seat Belt: 8
Hazardous Moving Violations: 3
Non-Moving Traffic Violations: 2
Driving While Suspended Or Revoked: 2
Uninsured Motorists: 3
Misdemeanor Criminal Arrests: 2
Felony Warrant Arrest: 1

“Preliminary 2013 statistics indicate that 239 motorists in Missouri were killed and 3,357 were injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes," said Captain Kenley. "The loss of just one life at the hands of an impaired driver is both preventable and unacceptable. Making use of aggressive enforcement operations and education programs are two ways the Patrol hopes to drastically reduce these numbers."
In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
