EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Marion County


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Marion County.
On August 19, 2011, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Marion County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 24, in West Quincy. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on August 19, 2011, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on August 20, 2011, officers checked 382 vehicles, made 27 arrests, and issued 30 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

5 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
1 -- Arrest for minor in possession of intoxicants
2 -- Arrests for a misdemeanor drug violations
2 -- Arrests for misdemeanor warrants
1 -- Arrest for a felony warrant
2 -- Summonses for seat belt violations
2 -- Summonses for non-moving violations
4 -- Summonses for driver’s license violations
8 -- Summonses for insurance violations


"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
