EMPHASIS: Troop I Releases Results Of DWI Saturation
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Crawford County from 7p.m. on July 6, 2013 until 3 a.m. July 7, 2013. During the operation, troopers placed a special emphasis on patrolling those highways where in the past a higher number of impaired drivers were either involved in a traffic crash or arrested for DWI.
During the enforcement operation, troopers stopped 28 vehicles, and issued 21 citations and 34 warnings. The following is a breakdown of the traffic citations and arrests:
DWI arrest: 1
Speed Summonses: 3
Seat Belt Violations: 6
Driver’s License Violation: 1
Uninsured Motorist Summonses: 3
Hazardous Moving Violations: 2
Non-moving Traffic Violation: 1
Misdemeanor Possession of Drugs Arrests: 3
Felony Warrant Arrest: 1
Captain Kenley stated, “Thus far in 2013, eight fewer people have died on highways within the six county Troop I area when compared to this date last year. Trends like this can only continue if all motorists take the job of driving seriously. Please, never drive while impaired or let a needless distraction take a priority when operating your vehicle.”
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
