EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest In Cass County

On July 12, 2008, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 1992 Dodge Caravan on U.S. Highway 71 south of Missouri Highway 7 in Cass County for failing to drive within a single lane. The driver of the vehicle consented to a search of the vehicle. Approximately one-half pound of marijuana was found in a drawer under the passenger seat.
The passenger, Jesse R. Chase, 22, of Butler, Missouri, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and transported to the Cass County Jail.
The charge for which Jesse R. Chase was arrested is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
