EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Crawford County on August 1, 2010. The checkpoint was conducted from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., on Missouri Highway 8, near the entrance to the Steelville City Park. During the course of the four-hour operation, Steelville Police Department assisted troopers in stopping approximately 320 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

DWI Arrests: 2
Seat Belt Violations: 9
Driver’s License Violations: 5
Uninsured Motorists Violations: 6
Other Violations: 6
Warnings: 56

Captain Kenley would again like to encourage motorists as they embark on their summer trips to obey all the rules of the road and to always remember to buckle up. Captain Kenley stated, “Fastening a seat belt is a two-second task that may very well save your life or prevent you from sustaining a needless injury.”
