EMPHASIS: Fiery Crash Closes Interstate 35

On January 30, 2008, at 12:08 p.m., a Tyson tractor trailer was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 in Clinton County, where it crossed the median and across the northbound lanes of the interstate. The vehicle then went up the embankment on the east side of the roadway, rolled onto its right side and caught fire. The driver was able to get out of the tractor with minor injuries.
Due to smoke covering the northbound lanes of the highway, motorists were directed off Interstate 35 and routed to Cameron, Missouri, where they could resume their trip.
The highway was closed for an hour, while emergency personnel from Clinton County put out the fire and transported the driver to the hospital.
The driver was identified as Henry Taylor, of Oxford, Alabama. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
