EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Francois County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the potential hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., Sunday, March 1, 2009, in St. Francois County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations and impaired driving conditions. During the operation, a total of 64 vehicles were stopped. Of those stopped, 39 arrests were made and 51 warnings were issued. Among the arrests were four subjects arrested for driving while intoxicated. Additional summonses issued include 10 speed violations, seven seat belt violations, six non-moving violations, and one uninsured motorist violation.
Captain Johnson stated, “Driving while intoxicated continues to be responsible for approximately 25 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
