Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Lewis County.
On June 11, 2010, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Lewis County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Missouri Highway 6, approximately 1.6 miles east of Route C, in Lewis County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on June 11, 2010, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on June 12, 2010, officers checked 116 vehicles, made three arrests for driving while intoxicated, issued one citation for a seat belt violation, one citation for a child restraint violation, one citation for a non-moving violation, one citation for a license violation, four citations for insurance violations, made one misdemeanor warrant arrest, and issued 15 warnings.
"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very serious," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
