EMPHASIS: Motorists Should Obey Road Closure Signs To Stay Safe

Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H in St. Joseph, reminds motorists to obey all road signage in the flooded areas of Troop H. Motorists who ignore closure signs and drive into flooded areas are in violation of state statute and could be in a life threatening situation.

Captain Robinson stated, “Swift moving water can sweep a vehicle off the roadway quickly and present a life and death situation for the motorists as well as the first responders who will be sent to help.”

The public is encouraged to check their travel routes before leaving home to ensure a safe trip. The recommended web site, www.modot.org/flooding/ will provide updated road information.
