During the holiday weekend, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. During the 2011 Labor Day weekend traffic crash counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, and ended at 11:59 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2011, Troop B officers investigated 11 traffic crashes resulting in two fatalities, and five injuries. The fatalities occurred in a single vehicle traffic crash in Monroe County, on Sunday, September 4, 2011. Preliminary enforcement totals show officers issued 419 summonses for speed, 101 summonses for seat belt violations, 816 warnings, made 13 arrests for driving while intoxicated, and assisted 158 motorists.
