EMPHASIS: DWI Sobriety Checkpoint Announcement - - Miller County

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in Miller County sometime in the month of May 2015. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct the sobriety checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Turner says, "Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the intoxicated driver from Missouri's highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55."

In support of 'The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,' the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
