EMPHASIS: Upcoming Troop A DWI Enforcement Operations
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces several traffic enforcement operations will be conducted during the month of August.
During the month of August the Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the Cass County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Cass County. Also, there will be DWI saturations conducted in Henry, Platte, Johnson, and Pettis counties. These operations are an effort by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri's highways. The checkpoint will consist of officers stopping drivers at a set location and testing those who have been drinking. During the saturation members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will concentrate their efforts on highways which have been found to have a higher number of alcohol-related crashes and enforcement contacts.
Captain Powell stated, "Do not let your life or someone else's life be ruined by an alcohol-related crash or arrest. If you are going to drink, have a plan. Make sure that plan includes a designated driver."
All citizens are urged to report any driver they observe operating a vehicle in an unsafe manner. The public can contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on their cellular phone.
