EMPHASIS: Seven New Troopers Assigned To Troop A


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the assignment of seven new troopers to the Troop A, Lee’s Summit area. These officers began their 25 weeks of intensive training at the Highway Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, Missouri, on April 2, 2012, and graduated on September 21, 2012, after receiving comprehensive training covering all facets of law enforcement. They will begin the field training process in their respective assignments on October 9, 2012.

Trooper Andrew M. Beckwith will be assigned to Zone 5, which patrols Ray and Carroll counties. His training officer is Corporal J. Derek Ogden. Tpr. Beckwith is a graduate of Cameron High School, in Cameron, Missouri. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice from Missouri Western State University, in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Trooper Trent A. Baxter will be assigned to Zone 8, which patrols Jackson County. His training officer is Trooper Elizabeth A. Lusk. Tpr. Baxter is a graduate of Palmyra High School, in Palmyra, Missouri. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice and political science from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Trooper Jake A. Duvall will be assigned to Zone 10, which patrols Saline County. His training officer is Trooper Dennis D. Mathes. Tpr. Duvall is a graduate of Reed Springs High School, in Reed Springs, Missouri. He earned an associate’s of arts degree in criminal justice at Fort Scott Community College. Tpr. Duvall also attended the University of Central Missouri and Pittsburgh State University. He is engaged to Lauren Brockhaus.
Trooper Caleb T. Schwarz will be assigned to Zone 11, which patrols Cass County. His training officer is Trooper R. Jayson Hastings. Tpr. Schwarz is a graduate of Marianapolis Preparatory School, in Thompson, Connecticut. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice and psychology from Evangel University, in Springfield, Missouri. He is married to BryAnne (Rogers).
Trooper Christopher M. Fowler will be assigned to Zone 11, which patrols Cass County. His training officer is Corporal Joshua C. Utz. Tpr. Fowler is a graduate of Moberly High School, in Moberly, Missouri. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Missouri, in Warrensburg, Missouri. Tpr. Fowler is also serving as a reserve in the United States Air Force at Whiteman Air Force Base.
Trooper Jeremy W. Miller will be assigned to Zone 12, which patrols Johnson County. His training officer is Corporal Russell W. Shaul. Tpr. Miller is a graduate of Leeton High School, in Leeton, Missouri. Prior to joining the Patrol, Tpr. Miller was a police officer for the Warrensburg Police Department. He is married to Cher (Sulsberger) and they have two children: a son, Alexander (15), and a daughter, Leah (4).
Trooper Bryan J. Hamerle will be assigned to Zone 14, which patrols Bates County. His training officer is Trooper Kurt A. Schmutzler. Tpr. Hamerle is a graduate of Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in justice systems from Truman State University, in Kirksville, Missouri.
