EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Ste. Genevieve County



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, September 21, 2013. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013, and was located on Missouri Highway 32 at Missouri Route B. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 237 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

3 -- DWI arrests
1 -- uninsured motorist summons
1 -- non-moving summons
2 -- drug arrests


Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
