EMPHASIS: Arrest Of Individuals With Portable Methamphetamine Lab In Marion County


At approximately 10:12 p.m. on October 14, 2012, Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a 2004 Kia Optima, on U.S. Highway 61, one mile south of Palmyra, Missouri, in Marion County, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop and subsequent search of the vehicle, a methamphetamine lab and items used to manufacture and distribute the illegal substance were located. The driver of the vehicle, Wesley A. Barnett, 31, of Merrillville, Indiana, and a passenger of the vehicle, Lindsey M. Buel, 29, of Gadsden, Alabama, were arrested.
Barnett was arrested for felony attempted manufacture of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), felony possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of heroin, exceeding the speed limit, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
Buel was arrested for felony attempted manufacture of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Both Barnett and Buel were incarcerated in the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
The Patrol was assisted by the North Missouri Drug Task Force (NOMO) and the Palmyra Police Department.

The charges for which Barnett and Buel were arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
