EMPHASIS: 2007 Fatalities Down in Troop F
Troop F traffic crash fatalities are down 24 percent in 2007, when compared to the number of fatalities in 2006. The Troop F area encompasses 13 counties in Central Missouri. In addition, fatalities statewide have decreased from 1,050 in 2006 to 929 in 2007, a decrease of 11 percent.
Captain Dale A. Schmidt, commanding officer, Troop F, Jefferson City, stated, “We are pleased with the decrease in fatalities that have occurred throughout 2007. However, the recent ice storm and upcoming holiday season will continue to challenge motorists. We urge everyone to take extra time while they travel and to pack a cell phone and charger, ice scraper, extra blankets, and a flashlight. Also, clean your vehicle of ice to avoid having large chunks of ice fly off and strike other vehicles.”
Troop F officers will continue enforcement efforts in an attempt to reduce fatalities on Missouri’s roadways. Enforcement projects such as DWI saturations and DWI checkpoints will be utilized.
The following is a county total of fatality crashes for the Troop F region:
