EMPHASIS: Results Of Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Campaign In Buchanan County

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer of Troop H, announces the results of a commercial motor vehicle safety operation held in Buchanan County. The operation was held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 24, 2014. During this enforcement operation, six officers patrolled specific areas with the goal of stopping commercial motor vehicles for traffic violations and conducting safety inspections, in order to help prevent traffic crashes. As a result of the campaign, officers issued four citations for commercial vehicle violations, 37 warnings, and conducted 27 safety inspections.

“The Patrol will conduct more commercial vehicle enforcement operations in the near future,” stated Captain McDonald. “Conducting safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles helps keep the drivers of those vehicles, along with other motorists, safe on Missouri roadways.”

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
