EMPHASIS: Significant Drug Seizure, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop D

On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, an eastbound 1998 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer was stopped by commercial motor vehicle officers for a compliance check on Interstate 44, at the 88 mile-marker, in Greene County. Due to suspicious circumstances discovered during the compliance check, the commercial vehicle officers requested for a trooper to respond to the scene. After the trooper arrived, consent to search the vehicle was obtained and revealed 1,700 pounds of marijuana, mixed in the load of produce, in the trailer.
The driver, Adrian Montoya, of Mentone, CA, and a passenger, Margarito Urquizo, of Highland, CA, were arrested for drug trafficking. Both subjects were transported to the Greene County Jail and released to authorities.
The charges for which the above persons are accused are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
