EMPHASIS: Fourth Annual Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser For Special Olympics Missouri

For 28 years, officers from law enforcement agencies have championed the efforts of Special Olympics Missouri, which creates positive and enduring change in the lives of children and adults with mental disabilities. Many officers give of their own time to work with these incredible athletes. The Tip-A-Cop fundraiser is spearheaded by law enforcement personnel from the Missouri State Highway Patrol at Troop G.

On Thursday, May 16, 2013, Colton’s Steak House & Grill, located at 1421 Preacher Roe, West Plains, will feature members of all the local law enforcement agencies serving as ‘wait staff’ from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with 100% of their tips going to Special Olympics Missouri. Envelopes will be provided for your tips along with information about Special Olympics. A ‘jail’ will allow patrons to turn in ‘warrants’ to have members of their party arrested and get their pictures taken. Special Olympics Missouri and the Missouri State Highway Patrol invites you to come out to enjoy a hearty meal in a fun, family friendly atmosphere and help our amazing athletes here in South-Central Missouri through a tip for the fine services provided by these outstanding officers, who are volunteering during their off-duty time.

“Troop G has been supporting Special Olympics Missouri through Law Enforcement Torch Run activities for years. This Tip-A-Cop event at Colton’s has become an annual event, and we’re excited to offer something for the entire family,” says Captain Dwayne Isringhausen, Troop G. “The officers and Colton’s will do an excellent job, and we hope to have a wonderful evening. Special Olympics athletes are just like any other athlete. They need proper training. It is only through fundraisers like this that we can continue to offer training and sporting events for these fantastic athletes.”

Special Olympics Missouri’s mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all children and adults with mental disabilities.
