EMPHASIS: Troop D - Results Of Driving While Intoxicated And Hazardous Moving Enforcement Saturations.

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of driving while intoxicated and hazardous moving saturations in Troop D.

On May 18 and 19, 2012, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Troop D participated in two saturations which focused their enforcement efforts on the high risk areas and roads in Greene and Dallas counties, where a large number of traffic crashes are reported. The goal of these enforcement operations was to heighten the awareness of the risks associated with drunk/impaired driving, and increase compliance of the speed limit and seat belt laws within these counties. As a result, officers made 72 arrests and issued 115 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during both saturations:

5 -- Speed summonses (trucks)
22 -- Speed summonses (cars)
1 -- Careless and imprudent driving summons
18 -- Seat belt summonses
1 -- Child restraint summons
2 -- Following too closely summonses
8 -- Non-moving summonses
5 -- Driver's license summonses
4 -- Insurance violation summonses
1 -- Signal violation summons
5 -- Misdemeanor warrant arrests

Captain Villanueva states, “One of the duties of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators, including aggressive drivers. The objective of DWI enforcement projects is to deter drinking and driving, and for those citizens who choose to drink and drive, this behavior will not be tolerated.”
