EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Livingston County

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint in Livingston County. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on July 4, 2015, to 2 a.m. on July 5, 2015. As a result of this operation officers made one driving while intoxicated arrest and issued 15 warnings.

“Removing impaired drivers from Missouri roadways is one of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s top priorities,” states Captain McDonald. “If you choose to drink and drive, you will be arrested and you will go to jail. If your plans include alcohol, always have a sober designated driver."

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
