EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Louis County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in St. Louis County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. During the operation, a total of 49 arrests were made along with 38 warnings. Seven subjects were arrested for driving while intoxicated, and summonses were issued to five subjects for following too close, two subjects for no seat belt, seven subjects for speed, and 14 subjects for non-moving violations. A total of 14 other misdemeanor criminal arrests were made during the operation.

Captain Johnson stated, “Alcohol continues to be responsible for approximately 30 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
